Lac du Val is beautiful lake of around 4½ acres located in northern Normandy, less than an hour's drive from the ferry port of Caen. The privacy of the site allows peaceful and tranquil carp fishing in lush rural surroundings for a maximum of five anglers. There is a section of the lake to the rear of the islands (see lake map) which is a reserve area that the owner reserves the right to occasionally fish, but apart from this anomaly it is possible to book the rest of the lake exclusively to one group. This venue continues to go from strength to strength, the magnificent fish sizes (the lake record common currently stands at over 62lb) together with the numbers of carp caught lead to many repeat bookings each year.
The lake, which opened as a commercial fishery in 2004, is of the small Estate lake type surrounded by grassy banks, dammed at one end and with two islands providing a natural haven for the carp at the top end. It is fed by a trout stream so the water quality is excellent.
The depth varies from 3m at the right hand end of the damn wall, averaging 1.5m in the centre, down to as little as 50cm in the shallows by the islands at the top end.
